Death Toll in Riyadh Airport Attack Rises to 13 After Indian National Dies of Injuries

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia —The death toll from the October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has risen to 13 after an Indian national died from injuries sustained in the incident, according to the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

The latest fatality comes as Saudi authorities assess the damage caused by a fresh attack on the airport on Sunday afternoon. The country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said the latest incident caused injuries, adding that officials were examining the damage and checking the safety of airport facilities in coordination with relevant authorities.

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition said an unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4 of the airport, triggering a fire. Emergency and relevant authorities responded to the blaze, although officials had not immediately disclosed the full extent of the damage or confirmed whether the latest incident caused additional casualties.

The October 10 attack had already left 12 people dead and 309 injured, according to Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority. The victims included Saudi citizens and foreign nationals. The Indian Embassy has also been monitoring the condition of Indian nationals injured in the attack.

The repeated attacks on Riyadh’s main international airport have raised concerns about the safety of civilian aviation infrastructure as the conflict involving Yemen’s Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia intensifies. Saudi authorities continue to assess the situation and coordinate their response to the latest incident.
