The Somali Future Council has strongly condemned what it described as the Federal Government of Somalia’s transfer of weapons to Galkayo, warning that the move could jeopardize peace, stability, and coexistence between communities in Galmudug and Puntland.
In a press statement, the council said the fighting that erupted in Galkayo on Wednesday was linked to the reported delivery of the weapons. It also accused the President of pursuing political interests that could further escalate tensions.
The council noted that Galkayo has spent years recovering from past conflicts and stressed that no actions should be taken that could reignite insecurity in the city.
It further argued that, at a time when AS has intensified attacks across several parts of Somalia, government security forces should remain focused on combating terrorism rather than being drawn into political disputes.
